Project Description

THE MIRACLE FOR THE POOR

The SIGN Nail treatment is no less than a miracle for the thousands of marginalized people living in abstract poverty whose fractures are of the severe nature and deemed to render them disabled for life.

Al-Khidmat Al-Hajeri Hospital is one of the 8 Hospital in Pakistan providing the SIGN Nail treatment. We at Al-Khidmat Al-Hajeri provide the SIGN Nail FREE OF COST to the poor and needy.

RECOGNITION OF SERVICES AND QUALITY

It is a source of great honor for Al-Khidmat Al-Hajeri Hospital Welfare Trust that our Surgeon Dr. Moazzam Ghori has been selected by Sign Care Fracture Intenational in a panel comprising of 5 doctors from all over the world who will give their expert opinion on the database of cases that can be operated with Sign Nail.

it was a great initiative by our Surgeon and our O.T Staff to incorporate Gamma Nail and HIP Construct system (provided by SIGN Fracture Care International) for treating femur bone fractures. Earlier when we had femur fracture cases we used to refer them to Lahore or to Agha Khan Karachi. If these cases were operated at our O.T it used to be a very lengthy and complicated procedure with around 8 to 10 stitches.

Now using this Gamma Nail and Hip Construction system we have managed to operate femur patients at our own Operation Theater. Dr. Moazzam has taken the initiative to use this Hip Construction System and Gamma implants. As per some sources Gamma Nail procedure was earlier done in Quetta by only one doctor, Col. Sohail. It is therefore a great achievement for our Hospital.

This effort has been acclaimed by the SIGN Fracture Care International USA and their founder Mr. Zirkle has applauded Dr. Moazzam for taking this initiative.

SIGN Nail is regularly proving us with equipment and materials directly from USA using which we treat hundreds of patients each year. We provide the SIGN Nail implants to patients FREE OF COST.

Our quality and efforts in partnership with SIGN Fracture Care International has also been recognized in their global publications. Read this heart touching story of HOPE and mobility.

FATIMAH
QUEEN OF SIGN NAIL

A story of faith and strength from Al-khidmet Al-Hajeri Hospital in Pakistan

“When Fatimah visited us the first time, she was eight years old and suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as brittle bone disease. The disease caused her right femur to fracture. Fatimah was treated with the standard SIGN IM Nail which enabled her leg to heal.
In Urdu, the language spoken by Fatimah’s Pakistani family, Eman means faith. After her recovery, her parents changed her name to Eman Fatimah.
Eman’s struggles with brittle bone disease are not over. At age 11, she recently broke her left humerus. The surgeons at Alkhidmet Al-Hajeri Hospital treated this fracture with a SIGN Fin Nail.

Abirah means strong and powerful in Urdu, and her parents, understanding the inherent strength their daughter possesses, changed her name again. Among her classmates, she has yet another name—Queen of SIGN Nail.

The orthopaedic surgeons at the hospital who treated Abirah shared, “SIGN has a special role in this journey and in giving the message of Hope to entire human race. Thank you to ALL SIGN Family.”

BASHIR AHMAD
READY TO PLAY AGAIN

Bashir Ahmad, a 10-year-old shepherd, grazed the family’s sheep one evening in June 2013 near his home in the suburbs of Yaroo, Pishin District of Baluchistan, Pakistan. As the sheep foraged, Bashir discovered what he thought was a toy, and he began to play with it as he drove the sheep home. A blast sent Bashir’s father running to his son where he found the child unconscious with clothes stained in blood. Rushed to the nearby hospital, doctors found fractures in both the left humerus (upper arm) and femur (upper leg). They repaired the bones with the methods available to them. An external fixator was placed in the left humerus. An external fixator places pins through the bone connected by a rod and clamps to immobilize the fracture. However, it limits mobility, so many times the fracture will not heal. The broken left femur was merely dressed. Al-khidmat Al-Hajeri Hospital Welfare Trust Hospital – in Quetta, Pakistan lies over seven hours from Bashir’s home in Yaroo; however, it’s the closest hospital with orthopaedic surgery facilities. Over one year after the accident in August 2014, Bashir arrived at Welfare Trust Hospital for treatment. His left femur and left humerus had not healed. The SIGN Surgeons initiated his treatment by removing the external fixator from the humerus and debridmont of the wound in the left thigh more than once. Through SIGN supporters who feel the call to help create healing hope around the world, SIGN is able to provide implants to this program, like many others, at no cost. This enabled the surgeons to repair both Bashir’s humerus and femur fractures. It was not long before Bashir was able to return to the business of grazing the family’s sheep. He’s working now to regain motion in his knee. According to Bashir’s surgeons, “The smile on his face gives the message to entire human beings! God bless all! Amen.”

As of December 2021 we have operated a total of 915 patients using Sign Nail cases.
